Specifically, Vietnam’s express delivery services market was worth 0.71 billion USD last year, and is projected to grow at 24.1% a year to reach 4.88 billion USD by 2030. According to a market report by Acclime Vietnam and Kantar Worldpanel, though Vietnam is less developed than many other e-commerce markets in Southeast Asia, it is one of the fastest growing online economies. US helps strengthen Vietnam’s higher education in US$14-million partnership
The partnership will drive socio-economic development by benefitting more than 200,000 students and equip them with skills to thrive in an increasingly competitive global market. The United States on August 1 launched a five-year, US$14.2-million partnership with three leading Vietnamese universities to strengthen higher education in Vietnam. The funding, through US Agency for International Development (USAID), is part of the Partnership for Higher Education Reform announced by Vice President Kamala Harris during her visit to Hanoi in August 2021 will collaborate with universities, key government officials, and industry partners in Vietnam. Vietnam targets 10,000 OCOP products by 2025
The National OCOP program for 2021-2025 has been approved by the Standing Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh. Vietnam targets reaching at least 10,000 products being rated by the national One Commune One Product program (OCOP) with three stars or more by 2025. The program aims to bolster rural economic development towards sustainability. Among the ranked products, there are about 400-500 rated as five stars during the period. Visa paving the way to an inclusive digital economy

New potential and trends The Indochina Kajima Development Company, a joint venture between Indochina Capital and Kajima Corporation, recently launched an industrial real estate investment and development platform focused on the nationwide roll out of factory and warehouse properties for lease throughout the country’s key manufacturing and logistics markets. The Core5 Vietnam platform ( www.c5ip.vn ) plans to offer industrial assets of some US$1 billion in the next 5-7 years. Germany’s Framas Group has rented a ready-made factory area of 20,000 square meters in the KTG Industrial Nhon Trach 2 project (Dong Nai Province). Framas specializes in the production of high-quality plastic parts for customers such as Nike and Adidas. Vietnamese driver investigated following car crash that killed two teens
Police in Binh Dinh Province, south-central Vietnam are investigating a case in which a 29-year-old car driver hit three teenagers on a motorbike, killing two, after they appeared to intentionally block his way on Wednesday. The third teenager suffered injuries, according to Colonel Vo Duc Nguyen, director of the Binh Dinh Department of Public Security. Tran Xuan Hai, 29, a resident of Hoai An District, Binh Dinh, was driving his four-seater car to his wife’s house when Vo Phan Hoai Bao, 15, Nguyen Quoc Viet, 17, and Ngo Quang Linh, 16 – all from the same district – stopped their motorbike in front of Hai’s vehicle. Hai then drove his car into the back of the motorbike, killing Bao on the spot. Viet died en route to a medical center and Linh was injured. Colonel Nguyen said police officers are carrying out an investigation to determine whether or not the crash was intentional. M&A value reaches USD 5.43 billion in seven months
The figure included the 885 million USD equity purchase of Korean KEB HANA Bank for 15 percent stake of the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) announced on July 22. Since 2018, Vietnam has emerged as a big M&A market in the Southeast Asian region with many big value deals. Total M&A value last year reached 7.64 billion USD, down 25 percent compared to 2017’s record value of USD 10.2 billion. However, if excluding the USD 5 billion deal of ThaiBev’s purchase of Sabeco’s equity in 2017, the 2018’s M&A value still increased by 41.4 percent year-on-year.
