Drying of Da River contributes to summer blackouts
The river’s alluvial ground has become a field where buffalos are let loose. The water level got so low that the Son La hydropower plant, the biggest in Vietnam and Southeast Asia, was forced to suspend operations. Khoang Van Nguy, 72, often brings his buffalos to the alluvial grounds. Due to the low water level, he only needs to travel 3 km to get his buffalos to their feeding site. He usually has to walk up into the mountains 5 km. The Ban Xa pier footing in Muong Lay Town is revealed as water level falls. Locals said it has been three weeks without a single rain drop. The ground is cracked as a result. Fish cages are laid on bare ground. A field of alluvial ground in Muong Lay Town is in prime time for harvest. BAT Vietnam focuses on diversity and inclusion
Could you please share why D&I is so important? Hamzah Fazal, head of Talent, Culture & Inclusion, Vietnam Cluster at BAT D&I has evolved dramatically over the years. People now value their individual identity a lot more than they did 20 years ago, people used to adapt to the company values and identity while suppressing their own. To be relevant in this age, organisations need to create space for diverse talent with diverse identities. From the organisational perspective, diversity is what allows us to be innovative. It brings new ideas and creativity, which would not be possible with a standard or homogeneous view. It simultaneously also allows us to understand our consumers better because consumers are diverse, they have different need and wants, … [Read more...] about BAT Vietnam focuses on diversity and inclusion
