At around 7 p.m., numerous vehicles were stopped at a traffic light at the Thuan An Hoa-My Phuoc-Tan Van intersection in Thuan Giao Ward. A truck then came from behind and rammed into the rows of vehicles. Three motorbikes were heavily damaged by the impact. A 20-year-old man died on the spot. Two other people were rushed to the hospital. Nearby vegetable stalls were also damaged in the incident. "I was sitting inside my house when I heard a loud crash. HCM City seeking to ease traffic jams
The HCM City Department of Transport has issued a plan for solutions to deal with 25 traffic accident hotspots. The areas around Tan Son Nhat International Airport, the streets of Nguyen Thi Dinh and Nguyen Tat Thanh, Truong Chinh and the junctions of Cong Hoa-Hoang Hoa Tham and Tran Quoc Hoan-Phan Thuc Duyen are among the hardest hit. Traffic jams in HCM City According to the department, it is necessary to speed up key transport projects in the city, including tunnels at Nguyen Van Linh-Nguyen Huu Tho and Tran Quoc Hoai-Cong Hoa intersections. The 2023 National Traffic Safety Contest will be organised for six months on a larger scale and with bigger prizes. The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport has proposed banning sleeper buses from entering the inner-city area around the clock instead of between 6:00 am and 10:00 pm every day. Sleeper buses will be prohibited from traveling into the inner city area bounded by National Highway No. 1 – Nguyen Van Linh Street – Vo Chi Cong Street – Nguyen Thi Dinh Street – Dong Van Cong Street – Mai Chi Tho Boulevard – Hanoi Highway – National Highway 1. Ho Chi Minh City holds fire drill at Saigon River Tunnel
A fire drill was held at the Saigon River Tunnel in Ho Chi Minh City on Sunday morning with nearly 1,300 people and 88 vehicles being mobilized. The hypothetical situation was that a 30-seater coach suddenly broke down and stopped while running inside the tunnel from District 1 to Thu Duc City. At the time, a cargo truck failed to stop and collided with the coach at the back. Nha Trang street cleaner killed in hit-and-run
Nguyen Thi Tuyet, 55, a graveyard-shift sanitation worker for the Nha Trang Urban Environmental Company, was cleaning up trash on the Tran Phu Bridge at around 1:15 a.m. when a car hit her. Tuyet was thrown onto a nearby flower bed and died at the scene. Following the impact, the driver of the car did not stop. Witnesses said the car that hit Tuyet had five seats. Authorities found fragments of the car at the scene. Tran Van Huong, director of Tuyet’s department, said Tuyet had been with the company since 2015. Accident causes 5-kilometer traffic jam on southern expressway

In Vietnam, woman jailed after threatening to kiss traffic policeman till her death
A court in Thanh Hoa Province, north-central Vietnam sentenced a 44-year-old local woman to a combined 20 months in prison on Tuesday after threatening to kiss a traffic policeman until her death. At about 6:30 am on May 19, the car carrying 14 people overturned off a cliff and fell into a pond in Siming village of Jingxi City in Guangxi province.
