Hungary has announced it will grant 50 full scholarships to Vietnamese students in the 2014-2015 academic year. The scholarships include 40 for tertiary education and MA degrees and 10 for doctorate degrees, said the Ministry of Education and Training (MoET). According to the MoET, 30 scholarships will be offered to students in agriculture, natural science, water resource management, technology, civil engineering, and tourism. Three others will be for arts and culture, two for sports and physical training, and five for pharmacy and health care. Ten doctorate scholarships will be allocated based on applicants’ capacity. If the applicants are not State employees, they are required to have an average university score of 7.5 or have won a young Vietnamese scientific talent award. Reciprocating her sentiment, her Vietnamese counterpart Bui Thanh Son welcomed Wong’s choice of Vietnam as her first Southeast Asian destination since taking office last month. He said her visit would strengthen and boost bilateral relations. Wong will conclude her official visit to Vietnam on Tuesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement. She said Australia has always valued Vietnam's role in the region and that the new government was committed to further strengthening the strategic partnership with Vietnam. Exhibition presents ancient documents of clothing items of Nguyen Dynasty
The event displays more than 100 documents, photos and items that are kept at the National Archives Center No 1, History Museum of HCMC, including 50 documents in Han (Chinese script) and Nom (Vietnamese ideographic script) of the collection of 34,555 plates of woodblock of the Nguyen Dynasty which were recognized as a World Documentary Heritage by UNESCO in 2009. The organizers expect to provide knowledge and the aesthetics of costumes and clothing items of the Nguyen Dynasty to viewers. The exhibition taking place at Hue Fine Arts Museum is part of the activities of Hue Festival 2022 that features a wide range of traditional festivals and rituals, cultural, sports, and tourism activities that has been held through all four seasons of the year. Vietnam halts scuba diving off popular island to protect coral
Vietnam has banned swimming and scuba diving at a popular central tourist spot in an attempt to revive its damaged coral reef, officials said Monday. The Southeast Asian nation boasts more than 3,200 kilometres of coastline with crystal clear waters, vibrant sea life and sandy beaches that are a huge tourism draw. Coral reefs across Southeast Asia have been badly hit by global warming, with scientists warning their degradation could have devasting environmental and economic knock-on effects. Recent photos taken off Hon Mun island -- about 14 kilometres from the city of Nha Trang and popular with divers thanks to its diverse ecosystem -- showed the reef bleached and damaged. "The Nha Trang bay management authority decided to halt swimming and scuba diving activities in areas around Hon Mun island," officials said. In its E-commerce White Book 2021, the Viet Nam E-Commerce and Digital Economy Agency said Viet Nam has the highest number of people shopping on e-commerce platforms in the Southeast Asia region at some 49.3 million. In the last two years, the country has seen both consumers and firms moving online, it said. Nguyen Ngoc Dung, president of the Vietnam E-commerce Association, said there has been a boom in e-commerce since the pandemic began.
