Tax inspection has put considerable pressure on business owners as the tax environment becomes more complicated and challenging. With the aim to support businesses to tackle the tax audit issues, on June 14, RSM Vietnam held the webinar RSM Tax Inspection 2022 to assist enterprises in successfully managing tax inspections. The webinar successfully attracted more than 150 participants from different companies. According to Le Khanh Lam, head of Tax & Consulting Services at RSM Vietnam, the COVID-19 pandemic had certain impacts on the number of tax adjustments and tax inspections in the first four months of 2022. The tax adjustments resulting from tax audits have declined as compared to the same period in 2021. Meanwhile, only 15 per cent of tax inspections have been completed according to the year’s plan. Vietnam’s mobile police to be equipped with planes, boats: new law
Mobile police forces in Vietnam will be furnished with aircraft and ships, in addition to weapons and other equipment, according to a new law passed by the country’s legislature last week. The lawmaking National Assembly approved the Law on Mobile Police at its third session on June 16 with over 91 percent of the votes from 474 delegates present. The law, which has five chapters and 33 articles, will take effect from January 1, 2023 and replace the 2013 Ordinance on Mobile Police. As per the new legislation, mobile police will be equipped not only with weapons, explosives, supporting tools, and vehicles as well as professional technical equipment, but also aircraft and boats to carry out their functions, tasks, and powers. Accordingly, mobile force units will be allowed to use aircraft and boats designated for them to implement their law enforcement activities when necessary. New antibody therapies fight cancer, drum up investment
Antibody therapies are offering promising treatment breakthroughs for cancer and other illnesses, generating greater investor interest more than 20 years after they were first commercialised. Antibodies are proteins that recognise foreign substances, known as antigens, attaching themselves to them to alert the rest of the human immune system. In 1975, scientists Georges Koehler and Cesar Milstein discovered how to produce them in a laboratory, which later earned them a Nobel Prize for medicine. Dozens of synthetic antibodies have since been developed. New antibody treatments to be used with chemotherapy have arrived on the scene in recent years. Northern Vietnamese city to establish new US$193.6mn industrial park
A VND4.5-trillion (US$193.6 million) industrial park is set to be built later this year in the northern Vietnamese city of Hai Phong. The Hai Phong Economic Zone Authority (HEZA) organized a ceremony on Wednesday afternoon to grant an investment registration certificate for the construction of Tien Thanh Industrial Park in Tien Lang District. Construction of the new industrial park, expected to cost more than VND4.5 trillion, will begin later this year on an area of 410.46 hectares. The industrial park is expected to be put into operation before 2025. Speaking at the certificate handover ceremony, HEZA head Le Trung Kien stressed its determination in ensuring the project’s progress by creating favorable conditions for the developer. Le Trung Kien, director of the HEZA, awarded an investment certificate to Tien Thanh IZ’s infrastructure development project in Tien Lang district According to Pham Huu Quang Huy, director of the Investment Management Department at the HEZA, in the first half of this year, the city’s industrial and economic zones (IZs and EZs) allured 21 new foreign-invested projects, and 18 existing foreign-invested projects asked for supplemental capital. New foreign direct investment (FDI) volume reached $755.7 million, equal to 56.2 per cent on-year. Up to now, the city’s IZs and EZs attracted 438 foreign-invested projects valued at $22.07 billion in total capital and 195 local ones worth $12.57 billion. COVID-19: Vietnam confirms 888 new cases on June 22

Hanoi still reported the highest number of infection s on the day with 149 cases, followed by Hai Phong with 88 and Da Nang with 61. Besides, the south central province of Ninh Thuan added 58 COVID-19 cases to the national caseload after verifying information. The national caseload reached 10,739,855. A total 5,657 COVID-19 patients were given the all clear on June 22, bringing the number of recoveries so far to 9,622,837. There are 33 patients in serious conditions needing breathing support. No death from COVID-19 was reported in the past 24 hours. The total fatalities stood at 43,084. Additional 740 new Covid-19 infections confirmed on Thursday
An additional 740 new Covid-19 infections were confirmed on Thursday, raising the national tally to over 10.74 million, according to the Ministry of Health. Illustrative photo According to the ministry's report, most of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 38 out of 63 localities in the country with some localities seeing the highest numbers including Hanoi (154), Bac Ninh (54), Nghe An (51), Yen Bai (40), and Danang (40). As of Thursday evening, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to over 10.74 million. On June 23, an additional 5,087 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to over 9.62 million.
