Indian PM Modi (Source:https://www.ndtv.com) New Delhi (VNA) – Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced a 30-day free visa for Indonesian citizens. The decision was announced on May 30 during the Indian PM’s visit to Indonesia, according to the Press Trust of India (PTI). Modi also invited the diaspora to travel to their country of origin to experience the 'New India'. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a three-day official visit to Indonesia from May 29 as part of his tour to three Southeast Asian countries, namely Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore. The next stop in his tour is Kuala Lumpur where he is due to have talks with new Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad. In Singapore, PM Modi wants to boost bilateral cooperation in financial technology, skills development, urban planning and artificial intelligence. Visa-exemption for Russian tourists proposed to 30 days
The move aims to create more favorable conditions for Russian tourists to stay longer and spend more, contributing to improving the efficiency of tourism activities. According to a survey by the General Statistics Office and Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the average spending of a Russian tourist in Vietnam is about USD2,500, much higher than the average of USD1,143. In the first half of this year, the Russian tourist market continued to see growth with nearly 194,000 arrivals, a year-on-year rise of 26%. The tendency will be retained with rapid growth in the future, with the country expected to welcome 1 million Russian tourist arrivals in 2017. Vietnam has recently waived 15-day visas for citizens from seven other countries, namely Japan, the Republic of Korea, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Sweden, and Russia. Yahoo, Microsoft extend search partnership talks for 30 days
Yahoo Inc and Microsoft Corp agreed to extend by 30 days the deadline to re-negotiate a ten year search deal, as the two Internet companies attempt to revamp a thorny partnership crafted by former chief executives. The search partnership, which took effect in 2010, allowed the companies to negotiate changes or to terminate the arrangement entirely after five years. Under the terms of the deal, the companies had 30 days to make changes following Feb. 23. According to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Friday, Yahoo and Microsoft mutually agreed to extend that deadline to a 60-day period following Feb. 23. "We value our partnership with Microsoft and continue discussions about plans for the future. We have nothing further to announce at this time," Yahoo said in a statement. Microsoft declined to comment. It was not immediately clear if the extension signaled progress or lack of consensus between Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella. International travelers will enjoy a 30 day no visa stay in popular tourist destination Phu Quoc Island under a new government decision that takes effect on March 10. Accordingly, foreigners or Vietnamese holding foreign passports who visit Phu Quoc will enjoy exemption for entry, exit, and transit visas up to 30 days. The new visa waivers will be also applied to foreigners or Vietnamese holding foreign passports who transit at any airport or seaport on their way to Phu Quoc Island, according to the decision. Also under the decision, investors in any sector will be granted most favorable policies pursuant to the regulation on industrial zones, export processing zones, and economic zones. To help ease the electricity shortage on the island, where diesel generators provide most of the power, an undersea electric cable from Kien Giang's Ha Tien town to Phu Quoc Island is under construction.
