Dong Ho Ballet to debut in Hanoi this month
For the first time, Vietnam's famous Dong Ho folk paintings are appreciated in a new language: ballet. The ballet titled "Dong Ho", inspired by the famous Vietnamese folk painting will be performed on the evening of March 22 and 23 at the Hanoi Opera House, according to Vietnam National Opera & Ballet. Toulouse opens new venue to display artifacts from Thang Long Citadel
The new venue will be the second in France after the first in the medieval city of Provins, Ile-de-France. Red Sea corals threatened by mystery sea urchin deaths
The Red Sea's spectacular coral reefs face a new threat, marine biologists warn -- the mass death of sea urchins that may be caused by a mystery disease. Because the long-spined creatures feed on algae that can suffocate corals, their die-off could "destroy our entire coral reef ecosystem", warned scientist Lisa-Maria Schmidt. In Israel's Red Sea resort of Eilat, which borders Jordan and Egypt, Schmidt recalled the moment she and her colleagues first witnessed the population collapse. "When we jumped into the water, all of a sudden all those specimens we used to see before were gone, and what we saw was skeletons and piles of spines," she told AFP . Growth in retail sales in September is expected at 8.2%. Exports will drop 6.2% and imports 7%. Industrial production growth will be up 3.2%. The inflation rate may be 3.2% this month, compared to 3% last month. Tim Leelahaphan, economist for Thailand and Vietnam at Standard Chartered Bank, said: "As the economy is recovering, we will no longer be so dependent on monetary policy." This bank maintains its 2023 GDP growth projection at 5.4%, lower than the country’s 6.5% growth target.
