The Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) in The Hague, the Netherlands, announced on September 2 that the two neighbouring countries in the South Pacific region achieved an agreement on the “central elements of maritime boundary delimitation” in the Timor Sea. The two nations agreed to establish a special regime for the Greater Sunrise gas fields, paving the way for its development and sharing of the resulting revenue. Australia, Timor-Leste sign maritime boundaries treaty
At the signing ceremony (Source: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) - Australia and Timor-Leste on March 6 signed a maritime boundaries treaty at the UN Headquarters in New York in the presence of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. The signing of the maritime boundaries treaty marks the first conciliation between Australia and Timor-Leste in accordance with the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea 1982. In a statement on March 7, Australia's Foreign Minister Julie Bishop said Australia welcomes the signing of the treaty which put an end to the prolonged dispute related to maritime border in Timor Sea. She hailed the treaty as an important step that opens up a new chapter in the bilateral relations and allows the joint development and management of the Greater Sunrise gas fields. Vietnam, Russia reinforce strategic partnership
The Russian Deputy Foreign Minister visited Vietnam on June 13-14 at the invitation of the Foreign Ministry of Vietnam to attend the ninth Vietnam-Russia Strategic Dialogue on Diplomacy-Defense-Security and Political Consultation at the deputy-foreign-ministerial level, which aimed to roll out the cooperation plan between the two foreign ministries for the 2017-2018 period. PM urges central, Central Highland regions to promote green growth
He said the meeting aims to collect opinions for the building of the 10-year national socio-economic development strategy for 2021-2030, the five-year socio-economic situation report for 2016-2020, and the five-year socio-economic development plan for 2021-2025 for submission to the congress. At the working session The PM asked the central and Central Highland regions to study an effective regional connection mechanism, review an overall plan on transport development, restructure agriculture, restore the development of the forest economy, forestry-based economy, and develop renewable energy and tourism. He told the regions to build sustainable agricultural production chains and develop road, railway and aviation transport infrastructure. Taiwanese firm builds low-cost preschool for workers’ children in southern Vietnam
A low-cost preschool in the southern province of Dong Nai has become a trusted place for factory workers to send their children since the 2013-2014 academic year for its environmentally-friendly design and high-quality education. Last December, Nhung Bong Hoa Nho (Little Flowers) Kindergarten, established in the provincial capital of Bien Hoa by Taiwanese-invested Pouchen Vietnam Company, received a green building certificate from the Vietnam Green Building Council. The council, which is a program begun by California-based non-profit Green Cities Fund, Inc., aims to raise awareness and build capacity for the development of green buildings in Vietnam. Nhung Bong Hoa Nho applies green solutions like recycling material and water and using solar-electric systems to heat water in order to help the school save energy, as well as to educate kids on energy saving from an early age.
