The ASEAN Para Games 2022 is a qualifier for athletes to win tickets to Paralympic Paris 2024. Some 155 Vietnamese athletes with disabilities will attend the 11th Southeast Asian Para Games (ASEAN Para Games 2022) in Indonesia next month, according to the General Department of Sports and Physical Training under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The Vietnamese delegation will include one guiding athlete, 18 coaches, two doctors, and 13 support personnel. The rest are Vietnamese parasports athletes who will compete in eight events: track and field, swimming, weightlifting, badminton, table tennis, chess, judo, and archery. On July 23, a departure ceremony will be held to see off the Vietnamese delegation at the National Sports Training Center in Ho Chi Minh City. Quang Ninh posts 10.66% economic growth for first half

In the period, the province has effectively implemented its overall strategy on containing COVID-19 and safely and flexibly adapting to the pandemic, thus facilitating development in the new normal situation. Quang Ninh collected over 27.18 trillion VND (1.17 billion USD at current exchange rate) for the State budget , an increase of 18% year-on-year. Total social investment in the period is estimated at 42.3 trillion VND, up 10.9% from the same period last year. Afghanistan earthquake kills at least 1,000, toll expected to rise
The death toll from an earthquake in Afghanistan on Wednesday hit 1,000, disaster management officials said, with more than 600 injured and the toll expected to grow as information trickles in from remote mountain villages. Houses were reduced to rubble and bodies swathed in blankets lay on the ground after the magnitude 6.1 earthquake, photographs on Afghan media showed. An unknown number of people remained stuck under rubble and in outlying areas, health and aid workers said, and rescue operations were complicated by difficult conditions including heavy rains, landslides and many villages being nestled in inaccessible hillside areas.
