Danish woman arrested for pornographic video in Bali
The 50-year-old woman could face a jail term of 10 years if she is found guilty of violating the Pornography Law, said Bali Police chief police Stefanus Satake Bayu Setianto, as reported in the Jakarta Post . Under Indonesian law, any person exhibiting nudity, sexual exploitation, intercourse or other pornographic content in public can face a maximum 10 years in prison and/or a fine of Rp 5 billion (US$335,000). The woman was found to have exhibited her genitalia in a recent viral video, in which she was seen lifting her skirt and leg to the camera while riding a motorcycle as a passenger. An investigation found that the video was apparently taken at around midnight in December 2022 in Seminyak residential area on the west coast of Bali. Her motive remains unclear and the investigation is ongoing. Police said the tourist returned to the country on April 9, 2023 at Ngurah Rai International Airport using the visa on arrival facility. Airfares in Vietnam soar for summer
Airfares on routes to popular tourist destinations across Vietnam are skyrocketing for this year’s summer travel season. According to a recent survey conducted by Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper, local air carriers plan to raise the prices of air tickets from mid-June to early August. Airfares for the Hanoi – Da Nang route will average VND3.5 million (US$150) per round trip, up VND1 million ($42.8) from the non-summer average. For the Ho Chi Minh City – Phu Quoc route, Vietjet will offer the lowest fare at VND2.5 million ($107) per round-trip ticket. Comparatively, airfares on the same route set by Pacific Airlines and Bamboo Airways will range from VND2.8 million ($120) to VND3.2 million ($137) per round trip. Vietnam’s Phu Quoc Island emerges as attractive destination to Cambodians
Around 9,000 Cambodian tourists have visited Phu Quoc Island off Kien Giang Province in southern Vietnam since the beginning of this year, marking Cambodia as a potential market for the island this summer. “Phu Quoc has a beautiful beach scene and a bustling night market with lots of foods and souvenirs,” said Danh Sang, a Cambodia tourist. “My family and I really enjoy being here. “Phu Quoc is truly a pretty and attractive destination.” According to the Kien Giang Department of Tourism, the province is estimated to have welcomed more than 4.9 million visitors, including over 354,992 from abroad, since early this year. Ho Chi Minh City installs solar-powered trash cans to boost waste classification
The People’s Committees of District 5 and District 11 in Ho Chi Minh City have joined forces with Green Resources Technology Company to place 200 solar-powered rubbish bins at key spots to encourage residents and tourists to sort garbage. District 11 will install 84 solar-powered trash cans at sidewalks, the yards of state agencies, and schools. These green rubbish bins are set to gradually replace the current public trash cans. In the first quarter of 2019, the administration of District 5 piloted the installation of 21 hi-tech trash cans at 10 schools. The district decided to expand this pilot program this year due to the positive results of the installation. These bins have two compartments for organic waste and other rubbish. Hanoi welcomes over 1.7 million int’l visitors in January-May
The tourism sector in Hanoi wrapped up the first five months of 2023 on an upbeat note, with the number of international visitors to the Vietnamese capital city during the period surpassing 1.7 million, the municipal tourism authority said on Thursday. Hanoi served an estimated 10 million tourists from January to May, improving nearly 54 percent over the same period last year. Of the total tourist arrivals, the volume of domestic visitors reached 8.4 million and that of international travelers accounted for the rest. The capital city saw tourism revenue in the five-month period from January to May surge VND37 trillion (US$1.5 billion), or 92.4 percent, against the same period last year. In May alone, over two million tourists visited the city, including some 316,300 international guests and around 1.7 million domestic visitors. Vietnam Airlines Group to provides 7.3 million seats this summer

In the peak period of these months, there will be nearly 500 flights operated by the group per day, 30% greater than usual level. Australian prime minister to visit Vietnam this weekend
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese will pay an official visit to Vietnam on Saturday at the invitation of Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This will be his first visit to Vietnam since he took office in 2022. The Australian prime minister’s visit will be made two months after Australian Governor-General David Hurley’s state visit to Vietnam. His two-day visit is aimed at marking the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Australia. Int’l Yoga Day to take place in 22 localities across Vietnam in late June
The Consulate General of India in Ho Chi Minh City will team up with the Vietnam Yoga Federation to roll out the 2023 International Yoga Day in 22 provinces and cities in Vietnam’s southern region at the end of June. This edition will be the biggest ever since the yoga fest was first launched in the Southeast Asian nation in 2015, Consul General of India in Ho Chi Minh City Madan Mohan Sethi told a press briefing on Tuesday. The yoga event is part of a wide range of cultural exchange, tourism, trade, and investment promotion events to mark 50 years of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and India, said the consul general.
