Addressing the ceremony, Chairwoman of the Hanoi VFF Committee Nguyen Lan Huong asked the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Hanoi to spread the compassionate spirit of Buddhism among the community and accompany the VFF chapters at all levels in performing social welfare work towards fulfilling the goal of sustainable poverty reduction of the city in 2022 and following years. Forest covers 42.02% of Vietnam’s total area by end of 2021
The total area of forest meeting standards for calculating forest cover was 13,923,108ha, resulting in a percentage of forest cover of 42.02%. In the decision, the ministry assigned the Administration of Forestry to establish a national forest resources database. The Ministry required localities that recorded a reduction in natural forest area in 2021 to investigate the causes of the reduction and undertake measures to restore the forests, as well as to identify and punish those who are responsible for the reduction in forest area. In 2020, the country had 10,279,185ha of natural forest and 4,398,030ha of planted forest. VRain is a new-generation automatic rain gauge system with data collection and processing completely developed by the Water Resources Development and Consulting Company ( Watec ). Ho Chi Minh City needs over $21mn to renovate nearly 250 old apartment buildings
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction proposed on Tuesday an allocation of VND500 billion (US$21.37 million) from the municipal budget for the renovation of 246 old, run-down apartment buildings in the southern metropolis. The proposal was made during a meeting reviewing the implementation of the Housing Law in the city in the 2016-21 period. The construction department’s deputy director Huynh Thanh Khiet reported that the agency has just completed the inspection, review, classification, and quality control process at 474 old apartment buildings constructed before 1975. The department relocated 982 households living at 19 of those apartment buildings and dismantled ten others with a total floor area of 123,211.4 square meters. The agency also repaired about half of the remaining buildings while the other half needs further investment, Khiet said. Vietnam likely to record 7.5 percent GDP growth this year: World Bank
Vietnam’s economy is rebounding from the COVID-19 crisis, with its gross domestic product (GDP) expected to jump to a 7.5 percent growth rate in 2022 from a 2.6 percent increase last year , while inflation is projected to stay at 3.8 percent, according to a World Bank (WB) economic update for the country. The WB released the predictions in the report 'Taking Stock: Educate to Grow,' its bi-annual economic outlook for Vietnam released on Monday. The report said the Vietnamese economy started to rebound in the fall of 2021, when high vaccination rates enabled the government to reopen the economy along with gradually removing restrictions due to COVID-19 that hit the country in early 2020. Vietnam was one of the few countries that managed to grow economically during the pandemic, with the economy bouncing back swiftly thanks to its resilient manufacturing and a robust rebound in services, the report commented.
