Russian-born goalkeeper Dang Van Lam will compete for Topenland Binh Dinh FC in Vietnam’s top-tier V-League 1 following the two sides’ deal signing, the football club announced on Monday afternoon. The contract will last for three years. While Lam’s salary was kept undisclosed, sources told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper that the payment is not less than US$300,000 a year. The number of students from kindergarten to high school in HCM City will increase by 22,000 in the upcoming 2022-23 academic year, according to the city’s Department of Education and Training. The delta, the country largest producer of rice, fruits and seafood, is normally flooded in the Mekong’s upstream areas, and this fertilises the soil as sediments are deposited and brings river creatures into farms. The floods are expected to peak at 3.5-3.7m at the Tan Chau Station in An Giang province in October, the directorate said. They are estimated to reach 3 metres by the end of this month, but will not affect the cultivation the autumn-winter crop. However, the high tides are expected to be high this year and flood low-lying areas in the delta’s central and coastal areas, especially when the tides occur at the same time as heavy rains. Nearly 3,000 new Covid-19 infections confirmed on Tuesday
The Vietnamese Ministry of Health on Tuesday reported an additional 2,983 Covid-19 infections, raising the country's total tally to over 11 million. On August 16, an additional 5,214 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to over 10.03 million. On Tuesday evening, two deaths from Covid-19 were recorded, raising the country's total fatalities to 43,100, accounting for 0.4 per cent of total infections. Diving competition leaves Vietnamese boys with serious lung damage after five-minute submersion
Two 13-year-old Vietnamese boys are hospitalized at the Children’s Hospital 2 in Ho Chi Minh City after being submerged underwater for five minutes in a diving challenge with their friends last weekend. The children were still on ventilators for oxygen support, had intensive measures applied to protect their brains, needed drug transfusions, and received supportive antibiotic injections as of Monday, according to Dr. Vu Hiep Phat, head of the emergency department at the Children’s Hospital 2.
