Doctors save 4-year-old boy from brain stroke in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta
Doctors in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta have successfully saved a four-year-old boy who had a stroke due to cerebral venous thrombosis, the Vietnam News Agency reported. Four-year-old V.T.L. from the Mekong Delta province of Dong Thap was taken to a local hospital in late July with symptoms including a fever, vomiting, and diarrhea. As his condition turned critical, L. was transferred to Can Tho Stroke International Services in the namesake city in the Mekong Delta region. Doctors diagnosed him with a very severe form cerebral venous thrombosis, which posed an extremely high risk of death due to the patient’s young age. His medical record showed that he had caught COVID-19 in January. Following an urgent consultation, doctors decided to carry out an endovascular intervention to remove the thrombus on August 8. This will include 30 works managed by the municipal administration, 50 State-managed architectures, and 12 built before 1954. Under the plan, relevant agencies will be responsible for planning conservation and embellishment of architectural works; and building projects for managing, evaluating and verifying the quality of those to submit to the municipal People's Committee. The municipal administration will continue to guide the districts to maintain, renovate and repair a number of old architectural works built before 1954. Progress in research, clinical trials of domestic COVID-19 vaccines updated
There are five vaccines being in the research and clinical trial process, namely Nanocovax, COVIVAC, ARCT-154, COVID-19 HIPRA and S-268019, the ministry said, adding the research is being conducted on schedule and in line with contents of the research plans approved by the ministry. The work is expected to complete in December next year. As of August 11, Vietnam received 253,071,094 doses of COVID-19 vaccine, including 234,636,494 for the people aged 12 and above, and 18,434,600 for children aged between 5-11. So far, as many as 249,778,892 doses have been administered to people nationwide, with 100% of people aged over 18 years old; and from 12 to under 18 getting the first and second injections. The vaccination rate of 3rd and 4th shots in the over-18-year-old group reached 73.9% and 57.4%, respectively. In July, as many as 13.4 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine were administered to people nationwide, up 2.1 million compared to June, the ministry said. Additional 1,815 new Covid-19 cases confirmed on Saturday
The Vietnamese Ministry of Health on Saturday reported an additional 1,815 Covid-19 infections, raising the country's total tally to over 11 million. Covid-19 patients being treated at a hospital in HCM City According to the ministry's report, the national caseload has so far increased to 11,364,355. On August 13, an additional 5,186 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to over 10.01 million. On Saturday evening, one death from Covid-19 was recorded, raising the country's total fatalities to 43,097, accounting for 0.4 per cent of total infections. HCMC records a rising number of new pediatric Covid-19 cases In recent weeks, the number of Covid-19 cases in the southern metropolis has tended to increase rapidly, with an average of 144 new cases per day.
