Ngo Van Quoc, 39, will be jailed for eight years and three months, a court in Thua Thien – Hue Province announced Thursday on two charges of "asset appropriation" and "appropriating and illegally using military weapons." The Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Dong Nai Province, southern Vietnam has written to four foreign-invested firms asking them to suspend cooperation agreements with 328 livestock farms as these farms have no certificates of completion of environmental protection works. Previously, the department, in collaboration with relevant agencies and local authorities, conducted inspections to assess the adherence to legal requirements for environmental protection by nearly 10,000 livestock farms and poultry facilities in the province.
