The Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Dong Nai Province, southern Vietnam has written to four foreign-invested firms asking them to suspend cooperation agreements with 328 livestock farms as these farms have no certificates of completion of environmental protection works. Previously, the department, in collaboration with relevant agencies and local authorities, conducted inspections to assess the adherence to legal requirements for environmental protection by nearly 10,000 livestock farms and poultry facilities in the province. The four-month comprehensive review of documents and on-site inspections resulted in the discovery of 328 pig and chicken farming operations across 10 out of 11 districts and cities, excluding Bien Hoa City, holding livestock farming contracts with four foreign-invested enterprises without the necessary environmental permits. Authorities in Khanh Hoa and Lam Dong Provinces, located in Vietnam’s south-central and Central Highlands regions, respectively, have sought to develop a 103km-long expressway linking the two localities in the 2025-28 period, said a local official. The administration of Khanh Hoa recently told relevant agencies to work with a consulting unit on a proposal to develop the Nha Trang - Lien Khuong Expressway project, Nguyen Tan Tuan, chairman of the Khanh Hoa People’s Committee, said on Thursday.
