Speaking at the event, Nguyen Van Manh, Vice President of the HUFO, said that the two countries’ relations are developing across the fields, from politics, economy, people-to-people exchange, to culture, sport, and tourism. He added the sides have frequently exchanged high-ranking delegations, set up cooperation programmes, and supported each other at multilateral and international forums. Several expats living in Vietnam have shared their stories about Christmas celebrations with Tuoi Tre News as the holiday nears. Kim Cheng, from San Diego, California, USA My husband and I have been living in Vietnam for over six years, and I've celebrated four memorable Christmases and New Year's holidays in Ho Chi Minh City. I remember my first Christmas in Vietnam. It was December 24, 2008 and Vietnam had just won the AFF Championship. Most of Le Duan Street and the area surrounding the Notre Dame Cathedral had thousands of motorbikes with fans cheering and waving Vietnamese flags. Then, just before midnight, there was a wave of silence. It was really cool to see a mass of people become so quiet that you could hear a pin drop. Korean Air has been donating bicycles to students in Vietnam's rural areas since 2018 as part of a corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme. Through these donations, Korean Air supports children to overcome their challenging circumstances in pursuit of their dreams. Employees from Korean Air's Danang office visited Duy Thu elementary school, one of the four schools that received the supplies. On the same day (September 7), Korean Air donated 40 bicycles, 60 backpacks, and 40 footballs to underprivileged schools recommended by the Quang Nam Education Office. These schools are located in mountainous areas, so students do not have access to public transportation, meaning they have to walk five to seven kilometres every morning to school. The airline also donated footballs to encourage pupils to partake in physical activity. Winners of the tennis tournament hosted by Sacombank last Saturday to celebrate Vietnam Entrepreneurs’ Day. — Photo courtesy of Sacombank Sacombank successfully organised a tennis tournament last weekend to celebrate Vietnam Entrepreneurs’ Day, October 13, at the Ky Hoa 2 Tennis Court in HCM City’s District 10 to foster relations between the bank and enterprises and between business leaders from various fields. There were 120 players in the field from HCM City and southern provinces and had prize money of VND350 million (US$16,100). They competed in a round robin to choose two finalists each for the final round involving three events: mixed doubles, under-45 men’s doubles and over-45 men’s doubles.
