Kurz International is the first European investor to invest in the 1,425-ha park as well as in the south central province. The US$40-million project covers 12,000sq.m. It is the third invested by Kurz International in Asia. The first phase of the project is expected to be operational in the third quarter of 2023, with a total production capacity of 15 million sq.m of hi-tech film and coating products a year. Crape myrtle, ancient banyan trees in Central Highlands recognized as Vietnam heritage trees
Thirty-six ‘sang le’ or ‘bang lang’ (crape myrtle) trees and one ancient banyan tree in the Central Highlands province of Dak Nong have been recognized as heritage trees by the Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment (VACNE). Nguyen Ngoc Binh, chairman of South Central Highlands Forestry One Member Co. Ltd., the group which manages the forest in Quang Truc Commune, Tuy Duc District, Dak Nong, where the 37 trees are located, announced the recognition on Wednesday afternoon. The official recognition by the VACNE was part of its efforts to promote environmental protection and preserve biodiversity. Pandora, the world's largest jewelry company by sales, plans to set up a US$100-million production facility in the Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park III in the southern Binh Duong Province. Framas, a leading German injection molding company, has rented a 20,000-square-meter ready-built property in neighboring Dong Nai Province to expand production in Vietnam. Red River Love is a campaign run by Exploring Swimming – a volunteer group which provides free swimming and first aid lessons to children in Red River Delta provinces in northern Vietnam. Three years ago, Nguyen Ngoc Khanh, 35, a resident of Hanoi, nearly drowned during a long-distance swim in the Red River. The incident was an eye opener for Khanh, who has since changed his approach to swimming and now works to share his water safety knowledge with children and adults throughout the northern region. Free swimming classes After nearly drowning in 2019, Khanh began working with a team of coaches to improve his swimming skills so that he could be both a safer and more efficient long-distance swimmer. Lê Hương & Minh Phương When listening to him talk for hours and hours about the objects he found by chance on trips to different mountainous regions, it is easy to see Mark Rapoport's passion for the ethnic groups of Việt Nam. Mark has years living in Hà Nội with his wife, where they have been collecting utensils from ethnic minority groups. Earlier this month, he donated 500 objects from his collection to the Vietnamese Women’s Museum. In the summer of 1969, Mark was in his final year of medical school, when the American War in Việt Nam dominated the headlines. He was strongly against the war, protesting, signing petitions and contributing money. The American Medical Association each year sent 100 doctors to Việt Nam to work in hospitals caring for Vietnamese civilians.
