Japan’s Watabe Wedding Corporate recently signed an agreement with Empire Group Vietnam to organise wedding ceremonies for 1,000 Japanese couples in the latter’s Cocobay Complex in Da Nang in the next three years. The figure is expected to increase to 16,000 in the next 10 years. This year, Watabe has already organised 120 weddings at Empire Group’s properties. The VN-Index on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange (HoSE) enjoyed increases in the whole week (from February 18 to 22) and it was also the ninth hike in two weeks. On February 22, there were 144 rising codes and 152 in decline. The VN30, which measures the performance of the 30 stocks with the highest market capitalisation and liquidity on the HoSE, had 17 advancing codes and 12 others end in red, while one code was flat. In the week, foreign investors posted net purchase value of 772.92 trillion VND (33.02 billion USD), equivalent to 23.64 million shares. The number of vehicles manufactured for export stood at 98,625 units, an increase of 13.33%. Furthermore, vehicle exports in February rose for the 4th consecutive month to 102,217 units, accounting for a 4.05% increase. Major buyers were Middle Eastern countries, the US, and South America. Also in February, domestic car sales surged 10.3% to 75,466 vehicles. Surapong cited the Thai economic recovery as the main reason.
