It was connected to the national grid on July 25. — Photo toquoc.vn The UK – Viet Nam Free Trade Agreement (UKFTA) is opening significant opportunities for enterprises from both sides to enhance cooperation in green energy transition and digital transformation as the Southeast Asian country strives to achieve net zero emissions by 2050 and embrace new drivers for economic growth. Viet Nam was making strong efforts towards the goal of becoming a high-income country by 2045, to which digital transformation and energy transition are considered launch pads for the economy. Banks should tighten assessment control of their corporate bonds investments: experts

Illustrative image (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNS/VNA) - Banks must tighten their assessment control of corporate bond investment s to avoid excessive risk and the misuse of funds raised by firms, experts said. In early April, the Banking Supervision Agency, under the State Bank of Vietnam ( SBV ) conducted an inspection of corporate bond investment activities at seven banks, while the Ministry of Finance inspected one bank. According to the SBV, by the end of 2021, there are 41 credit institutions holding 274 trillion VND (11.7 billion USD) of corporate bonds, of which more than 75% of them are held by ten major banks - Techcombank, MBBank, VP Bank , TPBank, BIDV, Vietcombank, VietinBank, HDBank, ABBank and SeABank. At some banks, the value of corporate bonds exceeds 10% of total assets. (Photo: AFP/VNA) Phnom Penh (VNA) – Cambodia reported 256 new COVID-19 cases on August 18, including infections of the BA.4 and BA.5 sub-variants of Omicron, according to the country’s Ministry of Health. Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen said although there hasn’t been a recorded COVID-related death since April 20, some patients of the sub-variants are showing severe symptoms compared to previous Omicron sub-variants like BA.1 and BA.2. The majority of recorded patients are receiving home therapy while those who exhibit severe symptoms will be transferred to hospital, Hun Sen noted.
