The company is providing technological and digital transformation services for tens of businesses in the Fortune 500 list in the North American country. After 14 years of operating in the US, FPT Software now has 450 employees and its clients are from 30 states across this country. The US is currently one of the two largest markets of the company, whose revenue here rose 52 percent year-on-year in 2021 and 60 percent in the first quarter of 2022. The new office marked FPT’s development and improvement of Vietnam’s IT capacity, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said at the opening ceremony. The PM also called on Vietnamese authorities to support Vietnamese businesses abroad, which will contribute to the country’s development. As the fourth wave of the COVID-19 pandemic hit the country in 2021, students had to study and take exams online. However, cheating on online exams has caused headaches for schools. Hoàng Mậu Trung, Nguyễn Thị Thanh Tâm and Nguyễn Văn Nam, all aged 24, built an online exam system named EduExam, using artificial intelligence technology. According to Trung, the project leader, the EduExam online exam system can be used for all levels of education, from primary school to university, for multiple-choice to essay tests. Decisive factors Cybersecurity plays an important role in accelerating the national digital transformation process. According to Trinh Ngoc Minh, a member of the Executive Committee of Vietnam Information Security Association’s (VNISA) southern branch, Vietnam has significantly improved its data privacy protection capabilities and was listed among the top 25 countries and territories (out of 194) in the 2020 Global Cybersecurity Index (GCI). Minh said investment and interest in Vietnam's cybersecurity have been growing, with spending in this field increasing 50 percent and numerous domestically developed information security products put into use. Techcombank is on track to be among the top ASEAN banks Techcombank’s rise within the Vietnamese banking industry was highlighted last year when it became the first non-state-owned bank to join Vietnam’s billion-dollar profit club. “Even in the very tough environment we are seeing, our employees have maintained a high quality and reliable service for our customers and this is helping us to deliver stellar performance year after year,” said Jens Lottner, CEO of Techcombank. Last year, the bank continued to reduce costs while focusing on building deposits in its current accounts and savings accounts (CASA), which Lottner described as a “stable and cheap” source of funding. Techcombank’s CASA ratio, which reflects the percentage of the bank’s total deposits that are CASA, jumped from 46.1 per cent in 2020 to 50.5 per cent last year, well on its way to the bank’s target of 55 per cent by 2025.
