Bars in Ha Long City will be asked to stop playing loud music after 11 pm following complaints from residents and tourists. The decision was announced by Ha Long City People's Committee Chairman Nguyen Tien Dung at a meeting held on May 13 with leaders of tourism departments and companies in the area. Speaking at the meeting, vice-chairman of Quang Ninh Provincial Tourism Department, Nguyen The Hue said that they had received lots of complaints from local residents, hotel owners, tour operators and tourists at Bai Chay Tourist site about loud music from nearby bars. "It's necessary to have urgent measures to curb the problem which has been said to have lasted for a long time," Hue said. The tourism official said they recently received complaints from a group of 300 tourists who stayed four days at a hotel in Bai Chay from April 19-22.
