More and more foreign and domestic companies see M&A as an effective channel to fast-track their growth, Photo: Le Toan Vietnam’s largest dairy producer Vinamilk has recently snapped up over 90 million shares of GTNFoods, which holds Moc Chau Milk, Vinatea, and Ladofoods brands. With the share price of VND13,000 ($0.56), the total value of the deal is VND1.171 trillion ($50.91 million). Following the deal, Vinamilk has increased its holding in the dairy producer from 2.32 to 38.34 per cent. The move is significant as it reflects Vinamilk’s intention to milk the demand for dairy products in Vietnam amid unfavourable market conditions throughout 2018. VEPG addresses key policy development processes for energy sector

Local pharma giant Phytopharma under constant fire by quality scandals
In recent years, many Phytopharma drugs were suspended from circulation and revoked for failing to meet quality standards. For example, in early 2019, the Ministry of Health’s Drug Administration of Vietnam (DAV) issued Document No.1784 on withdrawing Pneumorel (containing Fenspiride hydrochloride) because of arrhythmia risks for users. Specifically, to ensure safety for users, the DAV suspended the national circulation of Pneumorel (Fenspiride hydrochloride 80mg) manufactured by Les Laboratories and imported by Phytopharrma. In August and October 2019, similar cases were also reported, following the suspension of Youngil Captopril (Captopril 25mg) in 2015, and others in 2014. Yeah1 announces plans to take up million-dollar loans
The shareholder meeting of Yeah1 took place on May 9 Yeah1’s management board on July 19 issued Resolutions No.1907A and No.1907B. Resolution No.1907A approves the loan guarantees for the company's subsidiaries, including TNT Advertising Communication JSC ($6 million), Yeah1 Entertainment JSC ($2 million), and Yeah1 Brand Development JSC ($2 million). In addition, Resolution No.1907B approved the parent company to take up additional loans of VND20 billion ($869,565). Thus, Yeah1’s total loan capital is VND250 billion ($10.87 million), including domestic- and foreign-currency loans. According to Yeah1’s management board, the loans will be used to supplement floating capital, optimising and expanding Yeah1's production activities. Vietnam M&A Forum 2019 will be held at GEM Convention Center, Ho Chi Minh City on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 This morning (July 23, 2019) in Hanoi, the Organising Board of the Vietnam M&A Forum 2019, under the auspices of the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI), held a press conference announcing the forum's 2019 edition. After a decade of strong growth with thousands of transactions and a total transaction value of nearly $50 billion, the Vietnamese M&A market entered a new era with many new opportunities. Total M&A deal value in 2018 reached $7.64 billion, equaling 74.9 per cent compared to 2017. However, without Sabeco’s record deal, the pulling factor in 2017, the deal value in 2018 increased by 41.4 per cent.
