The Fruit and Produce Weeks help Hanoi’s residents access and recognize branded products with clear origins.

The Hanoi Industry and Trade has been working closely with other provinces and cities to bring many fruit and agricultural products with clear origins and good quality to serve the needs of residents.
In recent years, through more than 100 delivery events and weekly fairs, Hanoi has actively supported other provinces and cities in promoting fruit, agricultural products , and specialties in the city.
Many good products have been acquired from other provinces by consulting and obtaining support from large distribution companies in Hanoi, such as Aeon, Central Group, MM Mega Market, and others, to sell them in modern distribution channels, not only for the Hanoi market but also in foreign distribution systems such as Japan (AEON), Thailand (BigC).
According to Tran Thi Phuong Lan, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade, the department has organized many fruit and agricultural product weeks in the capital for businesses and cooperatives to promote their products.

“With a population of more than 10 million, including migrants, Hanoi is a large market for fruit and agricultural products. Consumers in the capital prefer and are willing to pay for products with clear origins, brand names, geographical indications, and good quality,” Lan said.
Currently, delicious lychees from the northern province of Hai Duong and Bac Giang are on the shelves at the Fruit and Produce Week in Hanoi. Dang Thi Ly, a lychee vendor in Hai Duong’s Thanh Cuong Commune, said this year’s lychee output is only two-thirds of last year’s, but it makes up for the price, which is about VND100,000 (US$4.26) per kilogram at the beginning of the season.
"This year, lychee price is stable and higher than last year’s. Our lychees meet Vietnam's Good Agricultural Practices (VietGAP) standards, thus, our lychee price is a bit higher than conventional products," Ly said.
The Fruit and Vegetable Weeks are of great help to farmers, as they connect them to the modern distribution channel system at a time when fruit and other agricultural products are harvested in other provinces and need to be consumed as soon as possible.
