The activities were to respond to the Youth Month and mark the 110th birthday of Major General, Prof., Academician Tran Dai Nghia (September 13, 1913 – 2023), the first Director of the Department of Weapons and Military Equipment (predecessor of the General Department of Defense Industry – GDDI).
Particularly, the mission laid flower and offered incense at the Commemorative Area for Major General Tran Dai Nghia in Tuong Loc commune, Tam Binh district and paid tribute to local fallen soldiers. On the occasion, the GDDI Youth Union Chapter presented ten tablets and 20 scholarships to students of Tran Dai Nghia High School in Tam Binh town.
The organizing panel handed over ten bicycles to primary students in Tuong Loc commune; two savings books, worth VND 10 million each, to needy students of Tran Dai Nghia High School and Tuong Loc Primary School; donated VND 80 million to assist the construction of a house in Hoa Hiep commune.
In addition, it cooperated with medical establishments and charity groups to provide free health check-ups and medicines for and presented gifts to 600 needy households and policy families, and 300 students in Hoa Hiep and Tuong Loc communes. The total amount of money for the activities this time was about VND 600 million, mobilized from different resources.
GDDI youths also organized science and technology experience activities for students of Tran Dai Nghia High School and Tuong Loc Primary School.
These activities were to educate officials and youths of the GDDI about the tradition of the sector and contribution of Major General, Prof., Academician Tran Dai Nghia to the Vietnamese revolution and the defense industry and raise their responsibility for the society.
