VAVA to further promote struggle for justice for AO victims

December 10, 2022 by en.qdnd.vn

At the 5th conference of the VAVA Central Committee in the 2018 – 2023 tenure, delegates reviewed the implementation of tasks in 2022 and discussed orientations for its operations in 2023.

VAVA President Nguyen Van Rinh said the association aims to mobilize from 450 -500 billion VND (19.1 – 21.2 million USD) in 2023, contributing to building funds and supporting victims in various forms.

VAVA will also step up people diplomacy activities and push the struggle for justice for AO/dioxin victims in accordance with the Party’s foreign policy in the new situation, he said.

In 2022, the association raised almost 555 billion VND in cash and kind for the fund for AO/dioxin victims, he noted.

A series of activities have been also organized to call for international support for AO victims. Meanwhile, relations with foreign organizations and individuals; and meetings and working sessions with traditional partners have been maintained.

It has helped enhance connections between the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and its chapters in localities nationwide to support AO victims.

The association worked hard on inspecting the implementation of projects to support AO victims in localities, and coordinated with its chapter in Ho Chi Minh City to restart the Japan-funded project to construct an AO village in Hoc Mon district.

With its achievements in 2022, VAVA's three units and individuals were awarded Labor Orders by the President; and three others were presented with emulation flags and certificates of merit by the Prime Minister.
