Festival of ethnic minority groups in Northwestern region concludes

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Director of the Department of Ethnic Culture under the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism and deputy head of the organizing panel Nguyen Thi Hai Nhung said that in the past few days, a large number of people and tourists attended and enjoyed the melodies and performances rich in cultural identity of the ethnic minorities in the Northwestern region.

Cultural, sports and tourism events bore special political significance for the spiritual life of ethnic minorities in the region, contributing to preserving and promoting cultural identity, fostering economic development, improving the enjoyment of the spiritual values, educating patriotic traditions, and strengthening the great national unity bloc.

With the theme “Cultural colors of ethnic minority groups in the Northwestern region,” more than 1,000 artisans, artists, and athletes from different ethnic minority groups from Phu Tho, Hoa Binh, Dien Bien, Lai Chau, Lao Cai, Yen Bai and Son La province brought many programs and performances imbued with the cultural identity of the homeland and people in the Northwestern to the region. Activities at the event affirmed the vitality of cultures of ethnic minority groups across the country.

The festival helped participating units learn experience from one another to develop the cultural movement and promote spiritual and cultural life of ethnic minorities in the Northwestern region, contributing to socio-economic development cause in each locality.

At the closing ceremony, 11 collectives and five individuals were awarded certificates of merit by the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The Vietnam Border Guard Command presented certificates of merit to four mass art troupes from four border provinces of Dien Bien, Lai Chau, Lao Cai, and Son La. Chairman of the Phu Tho provincial People’s Committee presented certificates of merit to 11 groups of artisans, artists, and athletes and five individuals with achievements in participating in and organizing the festival.

As scheduled, the 16th edition of the cultural, sports, and tourism festival of ethnic minority groups in Northwestern region 2025 will be held in Yen Bai province. This will be an opportunity for Yen Bai to popularize the beauty of the province, its people, and the fine traditional cultural values of ethnic minority groups in the Northwestern region in general to both domestic and international tourists.
