Major General Vu Duc Long, Deputy Political Commissar of the academy; leaders of agencies, units, and scientists inside and outside the academy attended the event.
The seminar affirmed that 100 years ago, on May 24, 1922, the Colonial Research Council of the Union of Colonies approved the union's Declaration drafted by Nguyen Ai Quoc. The Declaration featured the core standpoints, orientations for the organization and operation of the union with the aim of guiding colonial nations to struggle for liberating them from oppression and exploitation of colonial imperialism.
With Nguyen Ai Quoc and his friends' energy, knowledge, and talent, the union, though operating for a short time, significantly contributed to connecting the peoples of colonial countries in a common front in the fight against colonial imperialism, and building solidarity between the peoples of the colonial countries and the French working class and working people in a bid to liberate colonial nations from oppression and exploitation of colonial imperialism, and regain the right to independence, freedom and self-determination for colonial and dependent nations.
Speeches delivered at the event clarified and unified the perception of the historical context of the birth of Le Paria Newspaper in the struggle to liberate the colonies and the role of Nguyen Ai Quoc – Ho Chi Minh in running the newspaper. This was the foundation for Ho Chi Minh to soon build a revolutionary press in Vietnam with the first newspaper named Thanh Nien (Youth) debuted on June 21, 1925, after he returned to Guangzhou, China to operate and direct the revolutionary cause.
Speeches also spotlighted the necessity and importance of consolidating, enhancing and improving the quality of the revolutionary journalism in the current national renewal, construction and development cause.
Attentively, Ho Chi Minh’s approaches to maintaining the operation of Le Paria Newspaper are important suggestions for domestic newspapers and magazines to define the principles, operational purposes, dissemination methods, target readers, and existence and development paths.
With nearly 40 enthusiastic and responsible writings by military and civilian researchers and scientists, the scientific seminar was a practical activity to mark the 132nd birth anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh and an opportunity to assess and acknowledge the great stature and significance of an important historical event for the revolution of Vietnam and the world.
