HÀ NỘI — Vietnamese nurses will gain stronger skills on infusion safety as part of a Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Vietnam Nurses Association (VNA) and Becton Dickinson Holdings on January 20.
The partnership aims to increase patient safety by increasing nurse competencies in intravenous medications, administration as well as nursing management for patients undergoing intravenous therapy.
"As we all know, infusion therapy has become a very popular practice in medicine and nursing practice. I strongly believe that the cooperation between VNA and Becton Dickinson on the safe infusion programme will be a great platform for nurses, doctors and clinical experts to access new knowledge, through discussion and application of a safe infusion program into their daily work of treating and caring for patients," said VNA president Phạm Đức Mục.
The three-year cooperation programme will focus on developing national guidelines on safe intravenous therapy with the update and development of standards related to safe intravenous infusion and practice procedures at placing and maintaining intravenous lines.
It will organise clinical education programmes on "safe infusion therapy" through the provision of short-term training courses, and training seminars for Vietnamese nurses. It will also provide advanced training for a group of qualified clinical nurses to teach nurses and to conduct training courses. — VNS
