Sustainable development in Vietnam

FrieslandCampina considers Vietnam as one of its key markets as the country boasts a young population, and strongly growing demand for nutritious products. Vietnamese consumers' increasing demands are prompting FrieslandCampina to boost its research and development activities in the country.

FrieslandCampina pays special importance to bringing high-quality nutritions to the Vietnamese people via three key pillars including providing education and nutrition for children; improving the life quality of people and partner dairy cow households; and environmental protection and sustainable development.

After many years of implementing the scholarhip fund named "Den dom dom", since 2020, FrieslandCampina Vietnam has been cooperating with the Ministry of Education and Training to develop a project named "For Vietnam to leap forward and reach higher" with total investment capital of VND55 billion ($2.4 million) within five years.

In addition, FrieslandCampina has also taken the lead in a programme on developing the Vietnamese milk sector. Under the support of Dutch experts, by 2020, the model of "great farmer family" had been implemented in Vietnam, with the participaltion of more than 2,500 dairy farmer households. This contribution is quite significant in helping Vietnam improve its competitiveness in the milk sector, especially in the context of the entry into force of the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement.

Full of outcomes

Weathering all difficulties in the world and in Vietnam caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, FrieslandCampina Vietnam has continue carrying out its great mission of "For Vietnam to leap forward and reach higher" via a series of flexible and novel initiatives, including programmes on supporting nurses and doctors fighting against the pandemic, and assisting people in access to milk products. This is in line with the government's dual goal of both economic development and pandemic fighting.
