Chief of the General Staff and Deputy Defense Minister Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong chaired the event.
According to a report delivered at the event, in November under the direction of the General Staff, the whole military successfully fulfilled assigned missions. In particular, defense agencies and military units strictly maintained combat readiness, closely followed situational development, actively made recommendations to higher levels and dealt with circumstances in a timely and effective manner.
In the month, the General Staff continued instructing units to safely organize drills; maintain teams for pandemic prevention and control efforts; foster management at border gates, border areas and coastal areas to prevent illegal border crossing; keep forces on standby to conduct natural disaster response and search and rescue missions.
Speaking at the conference, the chief of the General Staff praised collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in their task implementation in the month.
He asked agencies and units to continue embracing their troops' thought; strictly managing their personnel, weaponry and military equipment; maintaining combat readiness; closely following situations to exercise timely response to issues, especially the situation in the East Sea (South China Sea) and border areas.
Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong urged forces to promote information dissemination to prevent Vietnamese ships from fishing in foreign waters and drive away foreign vessels encroaching on Vietnam's waters.
In addition, units should focus on managing border gates, border paths, and maritime border areas to prevent illegal border crossing and crime and persistently fighting against violations of agreements and violations of Vietnam’s territorial sovereignty, General Cuong added.
He also emphasized the need to closely follow the situation in the cyberspace, so as to promptly take measures to remove malicious information that undermines the Party, State and military.
The chief of the General Staff also requested the General Staff to complete the "Education – Training Development Strategy in the 2021-2030 period, with the vision to 2045" to submit to the Standing Committee of the Central Military Commission for approval.
