COVID-19: Vietnam records an imported case on Feb. 26 morning

The female patient, 28, lives in Ho Chi Minh City's District 4. She entered Vietnam on February 23 through Moc Bai international border gate in Tay Ninh province that borders Cambodia.

The patient tested positive on February 25 and was transferred to the provincial general hospital for medical surveillance and treatment.

Meanwhile, the fresh coronavirus outbreak has been brought under control with no community cases reported during the past 12 hours.

Hai Duong province, the epicenter of the outbreak that recorded seven cases on February 25 afternoon confirmed no new cases on February 26 morning.

Nine out of 13 localities where the virus emerged have reported no new cases during the past 10 days. They are Hoa Binh, Dien Bien, Ha Giang Binh Duong, Hung Yen, Bac Giang, Gia Lai, Bac Ninh,and Quang Ninh.

The number of quarantined people has fallen to 76,500 compared to 88,500 registered two days ago.

Among active cases, an elderly patient in Da Nang city, central Vietnam, has been relying on ECMO,  a sophisticated therapy to save patients in critical condition. The patient has suffered from hypertension and diabetes for years.
