Awards bestowed during Vietnam M&A Forum 2020 The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted the economy worldwide, with the international travel and hospitality sectors greatly impacted. Overall, cross-border investments and mergers and acquisitions (M&A) also face headwinds given market uncertainties and difficulties in mobility. However, there is confidence in the robust management of the Vietnamese government in keeping the country safe, and also the determination of businesses to adapt, survive, and grow. This means that there are bright spots in Vietnam’s economy, and which in turn creates investment and M&A opportunities. According to forecasts by independent market research group Euromonitor International, Vietnam is one of the world’s most dynamic and M&A markets with high potential, with the country’s M&A investment index projected at 102 points in 2020, only second to the United States. M&A transactions are forecast to recover in Vietnam from mid-2021, with the market size returning to around $5 billion.
