PANO – The Vietnam Dairy Products Joint-Stock Company (Vinamilk) started the construction of a complex of hi-tech dairy cow farms in Thong Nhat town, Yen Dinh district, Thanh Hoa province, on August 10th.
Addressing the ground-breaking ceremony, Mai Kieu Lien, Vinamilk’s General Director, spent VND 1.6 trillion building the 2,500 hectare complex. The 147ha farms will be home to a herd of 16,000 Australian cattle, including 8000 dairy cows. The herd could be expanded to 24,000 to meet future demands.
More than 36 million litres of milk are expected to be produced annually.
Reportedly, the complex will be equipped with the latest technologies and equipment designed by the US GEA Farm Technologies.Additionally, the advanced breeding technologies meet ISO 9001-2008 and Global Gap standards.
Moreover, cooling, food preservation and processing systems are comprehensive while the system controlling product quality, managing the herd, and monitoring cattle health relies on CAC (computer aided control). All data will be transmitted to the company’s head office in Ho Chi Minh City.
Once operational in 2017, the complex is hoped to contribute to socio-economic development in Thanh Hoa province and generate more jobs for locals.
