Google Maps is rolling out ‘incognito mode’ for Android users which keeps the company from hoovering up your search and location history data

Google’s ‘Incognito Mode’ isn’t just for web browsing anymore. According to the company, Android users of the navigation app, Google Maps, will now be able to search and as summon directions via a private mode that keeps data from being linked to your Google account. As noted by AndroidPolice, the first evidence of the anticipated feature was spotted in a support document by the company. Google Maps is officialy rolling out an Incognito mode for Android users that allows them to browse places and get directions without having information tied to their google accounts (Stock image) As noted in the public post, Google’s incognito feature will turn off several points of data collection, including search history and location history. While the mode is activated, the app will not use one’s data to personalize any settings in the app either. As noted by TechCrunch, the the roll out of the feature is being done in increments, so not all Android users will have access to the private mode right away.
