As good as the camera in your phone is, there is still a big gap between it and a stand-alone digital camera, particularly a DSLR or mirrorless model with interchangeable lenses. The best digital cameras are expensive, though, often costing several thousand dollars. That’s why annual retail events like Black Friday and Cyber Monday are such welcome opportunities to save big on top models and brands.
Black Friday deals have brought significant discounts to cameras from Canon, Nikon, Sony, and other major brands. Some models have been reduced by several hundred dollars, and it’s possible to save $1,000 or more on certain camera and lens kits. We’ve rounded up some of the best deals on our favorite cameras below.
We’ll be updating this post regularly through Cyber Monday, so check back for the most up-to-date camera deals.
Black Friday deals on popular cameras
How to score the best Black Friday camera deals
The biggest Black Friday camera deals are often for cameras that have just been replaced, though this year already has a few good deals on current models. Picking up an old camera isn’t necessarily a bad thing — sometimes, the new version only offers minimal changes, or adds features or performance you may not need.
Beginner-friendly cameras are also commonly discounted for Black Friday and Cyber Monday. An entry-level DSLR or mirrorless camera with a lens or two makes a good gift, and you’ll often find the most savings on these kits.
Speaking of lenses, there are deals to be found from third-party manufacturers, too. Sigma, for example, announced savings of up to $250 off for its popular Art series of lenses through December 5.
Photographers may want to look for more than just camera and lens deals. Adobe is offering 40% off an all-apps subscription for new Creative Cloud subscriber, bringing the plan to $30 a month. Adobe competitor Skylum is bundling free items with its Luminar photo-editing software, a sale live now through Cyber Monday.
Most camera companies forbid authorized resellers from selling their products below a certain price, but that doesn’t mean retailers won’t sweeten the pot by bundling in extras. Popular camera stores like Adorama and B&H, in addition to large retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, and Walmart, all offer their own takes on value-added camera bundles. Some of these may not contain any additional accessories you truly need, but others might — so there’s reason to shop around before making a final decision.
Canon Black Friday camera deals
Canon T7i EOS Rebel DSLR camera
The excellent Canon EOS Rebel T7i is simply one of the best cameras under $1,000 we’ve ever tested. This DSLR boasts a 24.2-megapixel CMOS image sensor, plus a whole suite of advanced features like lag-free autofocus, 7-frames-per-second continuous shooting, a fully-articulating LCD touchscreen, and Canon’s Feature Assistant, a guided menu system that makes it easy to learn the camera’s different settings and modes.
The Rebel T7i two-lens kit is, selling for $700 in a kit that also includes a bag and an SD card. That’s only $50 more than . For a Canon that’s not quite so pricey, the EOS T6 is in a two-lens kit and also sell for about $400.
Canon EOS RP
The Canon EOS RP is already a budget model, but Black Friday sales make the full-frame mirrorless camera even more enticing. The EOS RP sports a 26-megapixel full-frame sensor, 5-frames-per-second burst speed, Dual Pixel Autofocus, and 4K video (albeit, with some limitations). The RP isn’t for everyone — a few features are intentionally left out to get to that lower price point — but it’s one of the most affordable new full-frame cameras on the market.
Best buy has the RP and 24-240mm lens kit$700 off the normal price.
Canon EOS M50
The EOS M50 isn’t Canon’s most entry-level model, but it still has all the convenience features of an entry-level camera that make it approachable to beginners. The camera uses Canon’s Dual Pixel autofocus, which allows for quick, accurate focusing for photos and videos. It also offers a very fast continuous shooting speed of 10 frames per second. The EOS M50 is also the first EOS M model to shoot 4K video, and while it some features like Dual Pixel Autofocus won’t work in 4K, it’s still nice that Canon included it.
One thing we appreciate about the EOS M50 compared to the newer EOS M6 Mark II is that it has a built-in electronic viewfinder, something that is especially useful on bright days when it can be hard to see the LCD screen.
Normally, the Canon EOS M50 retails for $899 with a kit lens. Amazon has itfor Black Friday, making it $300 off.
Canon PowerShot G9 X Mark II
Looking for a deal on a camera you can tuck in your pocket? The Canon PowerShot G9 X Mark II has a relatively large 1-inch sensor larger that gives it much better image quality than your phone. The 20.1-megapixel camera also has a bright f/2-4.9 lens with a 3X zoom range, putting a lot of flexibility in a small package. The camera is no slouch when it comes to speed, either, capable of shooting at 8.2 frames per second. Built-in Bluetooth and Wi-Fi let you quickly send photos to your phone for sharing with friends or posting to social media.
Normally $480, the advanced compact is discounted to $400 for Black Friday at several retailers. Adorama throws in some free accessories, including a.
Canon EOS 80D
The Canon EOS 80D is an enthusiast-level DSLR with a 24-megapixel APS-C sensor. It was replaced earlier this year by the EOS 90D, resulting in a reduced price for the older model. The 80D combines a decently fast 7-frames-per-second burst mode with a very accurate 45-point autofocus system and Canon’s Dual Pixel Autofocus tech for live view and movie shooting. The newer 90D is faster, higher resolution, and offers 4K video, but the 80D is a great buy right now if you don’t need those features.
Best Buy and other retailers are, a $350 discount. Now that it’s superseded, the 80D may be on its way out; act now to take advantage of this deal before it’s gone forever.
Canon EOS 5D Mark IV
Our current pick for the best Canon DSLR, the EOS 5D Mark IV takes detailed photos from its 30-megapixel, full-frame sensor. The pro-level camera offers fast performance from the 61-point viewfinder autofocus system, or in live view mode with Canon’s Dual Pixel Autofocus. Burst speed is also competitive at 7 frames per second, while 4K video rounds out the camera’s headline features.
all EOS 5D Mark IV configurations. The kit with the 24-105mm f/4 lens is particularly interesting at $3,399 — that’s a full $1,000 off.

Nikon Black Friday camera deals
Nikon D3500 DSLR camera
If you’re looking for a great first DSLR, the Nikon D3500 is a solid choice. This is Nikon’s current entry-level model and one of the easiest-to-use DSLR cameras available. It’s built around a 24-megapixel APS-C sensor that’s many times larger than what you have in your phone. That means better detail and cleaner images with less noise, especially in dimly lit scenes.
The D3500 would normally set you back $500, but Black Friday sales shave $100 off the price. The two-lens kit, a great option for new photographers who want to get up and running quickly, is on sale, with a free camera bag included.
Nikon Z 6
The Nikon Z 6 is one of our favorite mirrorless cameras, and if there’s anything we like more than a top-performing camera, it’s getting one at a discount. The Z 6’s full-frame, 24-megapixel sensor captures brilliant images in all manner of lighting conditions, while the 5-axis image stabilization ensures sharp shots even with slower shutter speeds.
A first for Nikon, the Z 6 is just as much a camera for video as it is for stills. It shoots 4K video with advanced features like 10-bit 4:2:2 HDMI output. We also love Nikon’s ergonomics, build quality, and menu system.
The Z 6 is an all-around great camera, and Black Friday discounts make it even better. You can get the camera body, F-mount lens adapter for attaching Nikon DSLR lenses, a high-speed XQD memory card, and a camera bag, a discount of more than $500. The kit with the 24-70mm f/4 lens is also discounted by more than $500. Other retailers may offer slightly different packages with other accessories.
The Nikon D7500 is one of best crop-sensor DSLRs for enthusiast photographers. The 20-megapixel camera is geared toward sports and action, offering sustained burst shooting at 8 fps combined with a 51-point autofocus system. The DSLR uses an advanced design with more controls than entry-level models, but it’s not completely beyond a beginner’s scope, either.
For Black Friday, Best Buy and other retailers are pairing the camera with two lenses and a bag fora discount of $700. That’s a great price on an excellent starter kit for the student or enthusiast photographer.
A 15% discount may not sound huge, but that’s a $500 savings in this case — and for the best DSLR on the market, we’ll take it. The Nikon D850 houses a full-frame, 46-megapixel sensor that produces some of the best image quality you will find. And thanks to the excellent 151-point autofocus system, the camera can capture sharp images even in poor lighting. 4K video makes the D850 even sweeter.
As one of Nikon’s professional DSLRs, the D850 doesn’t come cheap — but holiday sales at least make the camera a little more affordable. Normally retailing for $3,296, the camera is now $2,796. This price can be found at most authorized dealers, but B&H.
Sure, the Nikon D750 isn’t the 47-megapixel monster that’s the D850, but what it lacks in muscle, it makes up for in price. The Nikon D750 is a 24-megapixel full-frame camera, specs that are pretty common across the board for entry-level full-frame cameras today. The camera also packs in a 51-point autofocus system, a burst speed of 6.5 frames per second, and HD video.
The D750 is exactly the kind of deal we expect to find around Black Friday. The camera is now five years old but it was well ahead of its time when new and Nikon has yet to replace it. In fact, we called it near perfect when we reviewed it. Amazon currently has the camera body priced below $1,000, about $1,000 off, but it’s the kit with the 24-120mm lens — valued at $1,100 on its own — that’s the real deal here.
Sony Black Friday camera deals
While Sony’s full-frame cameras get all the attention, the compact Sony A6000 is a solid, albeit 5-year-old, APS-C camera. One of the best mirrorless cameras of its time, it hides a 24.3-megapixel sensor and can shoot at 11 frames per second in continuous mode — specs that are still good by today’s standards. All that is wrapped in a body that’s considerably smaller than the entry-level DSLRs on this list.
The Sony A6000 normally retails for $1,000 for the two-lens kit, but that kit can be found for. If you can get by without having the latest and greatest model, the A6000 is an excellent choice at this price, and the two included lenses make it a great starter kit for new photographers.
Sony A7 II
The Sony A7 II may be a generation old, but the 24.3-megapixel full-frame camera still has a lot going for it. Weather sealing, phase-detection autofocus, and 5-axis image stabilization were key additions to this model, giving it a huge leap in performance over the original A7 and making it easier to use. While its continuous shooting speed of 5 frames per second is only half that of the new Sony A7 III and video is limited to 1080p, it still holds its own in image quality compared to the best digital cameras of today.
Best Buy dropped the price of the camera with the 28-70mm kit lens— a $600 discount. That’s cheaper than the Canon EOS RP and, while older, it’s probably the better buy if you don’t already own a collection of Canon lenses.
