Manchester United are set to discover who they will face in the group phase of the Europa League when the draw takes place.
United are one of the seeded teams in the draw alongside the likes of Arsenal, Roma and Sevilla due to their superior coefficient to the majority of the other sides in the 48-team competition.
The Reds are unable to be grouped with another English side at this stage of the competition. United would not have been able to draw Arsenal anyway given they are both in Pot 1. Wolverhampton Wanderers, the other Premier League side in the tournament, are in Pot 3.
Meanwhile, United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed Anthony Martial and Luke Shaw will miss United’s trip to Southampton on Saturday.
“They’re doing OK but they won’t be involved in this game,” Solskjaer told MUTV. “After the international break, hopefully Anthony will be ready for the Leicester game and Luke maybe another week or two after that.”

Greenwood received England U21 call-up
Mason Greenwood has received his first call up to the England U21 squad ahead of their international fixtures next month.
The Manchester United forward is one of many homegrown talents to have been given a chance as part of Aidy Boothroyd’s new look squad.
Greenwood joins Rhian Brewster, Reiss Nelson and Eddie Nketiah as the four forwards to have been named in the squad for their European U21 Championship qualifying fixtures next month.
United’s worst possible draw?
This wouldn’t be any good for those Thursday-Sunday turnarounds.
There can only be one winner
United are the favourites to lift the trophy in May.
Keown stands by Sanchez ‘mercenary’ comment
Martin Keown had this to say when he was asked by Mail Online why Alexis Sanchez failed at United…
“Manchester United are apparently paying £175,000 a week to not have him at the club, and that’s remarkable. That is United admitting they made a mistake by signing him in 2018.
“Let’s not forget Manchester City came close to nabbing him first, but the Chilean opted for United instead. I branded him a mercenary at the time, and I stand by that.
“Sometimes when you go to a club for the wrong reasons, things don’t go according to plan. I once went to Arsenal’s training ground and Sanchez was there, working out on his day off. That impressed me. It showed his desire.
“But those moments of magic we saw with Arsenal never arrived in Manchester. He hasn’t been the same player.”
Solskjaer explains why he let Sanchez leave
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes Alexis Sanchez “needed” to leave Manchester United this summer after the Chilean completed a season-long loan move to Inter Milan.
But the Norwegian has backed Sanchez to come good in Serie A as he now links up with Romelu Lukaku for the Italian giants.
The decision to sanction a temporary departure for the 30-year-old has left United short in attacking areas, but Solskjaer felt the move was important to allow the forward to “restart” after a disappointing 18 months at Old Trafford.
Sanchez has scored just five goals in 45 appearances for United since moving from Arsenal and he has found himself on the fringes during the first three games of this season.
Solskjaer outlines Greenwood’s role
Solskjaer outlined Mason Greenwood’s role for United this season in a press conference earlier this morning.
“Mason is not used to playing as little as he is. He is used to playing every week, now he is coming on for half an hour here and there. He won’t be expected to play five games on the bounce, he is cover and an option behind Anthony and Marcus.”
Southampton vs United injury news
Southampton’s official website contains an injury update on four of their players.
“Nathan Redmond and Moussa Djenepo ruled out, while Michael Obafemi is also likely to be absent and Ryan Bertrand remains a doubt.”
Solskjaer’s transfer update on Smalling, Darmian, Rojo
Solskjaer says Marcos Rojo is staying but Matteo Darmian could follow Chris Smalling out of the exit door.
“It’s just come up the last couple of days this opportunity for Chris, we’ve sat down and discussed it, at the moment we’ve got six fit centre backs, I couldn’t promise Chris regular football, so he’s on the plane over now.
“I think he’ll enjoy the experience, it’s a big club, a big league, not many English players have had the chance to play in Italy. He’ll come back stronger and fitter for it.
“I can see maybe Matteo, there’s been some interest in Italy. Marcos is staying definitely. We’re a squad now that is less in numbers but still big enough and strong enough to have coverage in all positions.”
Solskjaer responds to Zlatan comments
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has told Zlatan Ibrahimovic to give him a call if he’s serious about returning to Manchester United.
The 37-year-old said earlier this week that he would consider a return to Old Trafford, having plundered goals in impressive numbers for LA Galaxy.
Ibrahimovic has 46 goals in 49 games for the Galaxy and with United short of striking options following the departures of Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez, he has hinted he’s open to a return to United in January.
