Vietjet sends relief aid to Indonesian earthquake and tsunami victims By Le Anh Vietjet Air’s aircraft transporting relief aid for earthquake and tsunami victims in Indonesia takes off – PHOTO: COURTESY OF VIETJET HCMC – On October 3, the special flight VJ2611 bearing “Love connection” symbol of Vietjet Air, which transported relief aid for victims of the double disaster earthquake – tsunami, flew to Jakarta, Indonesia, with nearly seven tons of relief aid including canned food, blankets, and necessaries. The flight not only transported relief aid but also brought the love and sharing of Vietnamese people with the tragic loss, suffering of Indonesians after the disaster. This is a prompt initiative and action of Vietjet Air employees. In only three days, Vietjet’s leaders and employees have quickly organized the flight, made technical preparations, obtained a flight permit, as well as called for voluntary donation within employees of Vietjet and members of the group, which helped the special flight take off. In the evening of September 28, the 7.5 magnitude earthquake off the coast of the island of Sulawesi followed by a tsunami devastated the coastal areas of Palu and Donggala. Over 1,400 people were killed and the death toll is expected to rise, while around 16,700 people have been displaced and 2.4 million people need humanitarian aid. In 2013, when super typhoon Haiyan destroyed cities in the Philippines, Vietjet also operated two flights transporting relief aid to Filipino people and taking Vietnamese victims home safely.
