Authorities of the central city of Danang have seized nearly 10 tonnes of illegally-transported ivory and pangolin scales. According to the municipal border guards, the shipment was detected at Tien Sa Port on the afternoon of October 4. It was hidden in a recycled plastic container imported from Nigeria by Thien Truong Su Ltd. Co. 10 tonnes of illegally-transported ivory and pangolin scales seized Colonel Ton Quoc Khanh, head of the force, said that right after being found, the force worked with the police to cordon off the scene and check the seized shipment. The case is still under the further investigation. Some days ago, the customs officers at Hanoi’s Noi Bai International Airport seized nearly one tonne of ivory, pangolin scales and other parts of wild animals. In April, customs officers at Cat Lai Port in HCM City confiscated nearly 3.8 tonnes of pangolin scales worth a total of VND30 billion (USD1.36 million).
