The conference is an important date for the Vietnamese cashew nut sector. It aims to promote brand names and products, increase exports and build long-term partnerships between domestic and foreign cashew nut businesses. Phan Van Cong, president of the Vietnam Cashew Association (Vinacas), said the cashew nut sector obtained impressive results last year with a record number of exports totaling US$3.62 billion, higher than other key export products such as fruit, vegetables, coffee, rice, rubber and pepper. Vietnam has maintained its place as the world’s leading cashew nut exporter over the past 12 years. However, cashew nut trade and production face a number of challenges this year so Vinacas has tried to meet these challenges by putting the quality of its exports ahead of quantity. At the conference, Vinacas together with domestic processing and export businesses as well as foreign traders and distributors analyzed, evaluated and proposed measures to boost the development of the world’s cashew nut sector in the coming years with a goal in mind so that all parties involved in the global chain of cashew nuts can benefit.
