President Teshome extended heartfelt condolences to the Vietnamese Government and people over the passing of President Tran Dai Quang. He highly appreciated the visit of the late President to his country in August and considered it a new chapter in bilateral friendly and cooperative ties. He praised Vietnam’s achievements in the national development process over the past three decades and successes in agricultural reform and foreign direct investment (FDI) attraction. Ethiopia will learn much experience from Vietnam in its economic development and national construction, he added. The same day, Ambassador Doanh held a working session with the Director General of Asia and Oceania of the Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), Tsegab Kebebew, to discuss measures to foster cooperation ties between the two countries. The Vietnamese Ambassador urged Ethiopian relevant ministries and departments to consider and negotiate a agreement for the encouragement and protection of investment and a double taxation avoidance agreement as well as other cooperation agreements.
