VNUA Director Nguyen Thi Lan said for over 60 years, the university has continually developed in terms of size, quantity and quality. At present, it has nearly 1,400 staff members and more than 30,000 students, about 500 of them are from other countries. It has been recognised as a training centre of high-quality human resources and an advanced research centre for agricultural science-technology, economy and policies, and rural development of Vietnam. She added that graduates of the VNUA has become an important force contributing to the major achievements in agriculture and rural development during the wartime in the past and the cause of reforms, industrialisation, modernisation and international integration of the country at present. Lan noted the VNUA has taken the lead in reforming the training targets, content and methods so as to create high-quality human resources able to meet requirements of the actual agricultural development and new-style rural area building while encouraging students’ entrepreneurship and innovation.
