About 500 pupils are having to travel by boats through dangerous locations as early flooding damaged embankments and roads in the southern Dong Thap Province. Many parts in Thuong Phuoc Commune submerged under water Nguyen Huu Tien, head of the Hong Ngu District Department of Education and Training, said that many streets to schools had been flooded, including nursery and primary schools. Children go to school by boat The district authorities provided life jackets and encouraged parents and local people to escort children to school. Sudden erosion ate away a part of the schoolyard at Thuong Phuoc 1 Primary School. Thanks to quick action the authorities were able to prevent further damage.
