According to an announcement today, Google rolled out the new feature called “Motorcycle Mode” on Google Maps, which was specially designed for motorbike users, with the aim of better catering to their needs. The feature will recommend riders convenient shortcuts and narrow alleys, and provide them more accurate travel time by applying Machine Learning technology to imitate motorbike speeds. Besides this, it will mark out restricted roads that motorbike users are not allowed to enter, as well as offer easy-to-memorize routes by using landmarks along the way. The new feature is now available on mobile devices powered by Android Kitkat 4.4 or more advanced operating systems, while another version for iPhone and iPad users will be introduced by Google later. Earlier, motorcyclists and two-wheel vehicle riders had to use navigation mode designed for car drivers on Google Maps. Google Maps, with over one billion users monthly, has provided navigation services in more than 200 countries and regions. In Vietnam, the number of people using Google Maps in 2018 marked up by 40% year-on-year.
