Nottingham shortlisted in race to host Channel 4 regional hub
This is very exciting – Nottingham has been confirmed as one of the shortlisted cities in the running to become home to a new Channel 4 regional hub.
Channel 4 wants to set up a national headquarters and two smaller ‘creative hubs’ in 2019.
The channel’s main base will still be in London but some board meetings will be held in the national headquarters and some “key creative decision makers” will move there.
Nottingham was among the cities to put itself forward as a potential new home for the broadcaster when the plans were first confirmed last year.
Channel 4 has announced 13 shortlisted cities and regions which have been selected to participate in the second stage of the pitch process for the broadcaster’s new national headquarter and creative hubs.
While the city has missed out on the chance to host the new national headquarters, it has been confirmed as one of those in the running to host a new creative hub.

Mill where biggest cannabis haul was discovered in city could become a hotel
A derelict mill in New Basford where police found the ‘largest cannabis grow ever found in Nottingham’ could be transformed into a hotel.
The Palmerston House building, Mount Street, had been blocked by a crime gang and Vietnamese men were tending the crops in the historic mill.
Officers broke in to the building to find 4,049 cannabis plants last August – and police said it was the “largest cannabis grow ever found in Nottingham”.
Plans have since been revealed to convert the four-storey former mill into a building “comprising hotel and offices / training / meeting rooms and workshops”.
The exact number of rooms at the hotel have yet to be revealed and residents’ opinions were split.
Some said the development would benefit the area while others said they were afraid house prices would fall as a result and added they were concerned about pollution and parking.
