NDO – Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc on July 20 visited and presented 30 gifts, worth VND3 million each, to policy beneficiary families in Gio Linh district, Quang Tri province, on the occasion of 70th anniversary of Wounded and Fallen Soldiers’ Day (July 27, 1947-2017).
Speaking at the event, the Vice President appreciated the care of Party committees, governments and organisations in Quang Tri for policy beneficiary families and revolutionary contributors in the province.
She asked relevant local agencies to continue paying adequate attention to the families of wounded soldiers and martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the national liberation and reunification.
On the occasion, the Vice President offered incense and flowers at the Memorial monument at the Quang Tri ancient citadel as well as Truong Son National and Road 9 Martyrs’ Cemeteries.
On the same day, an arts programme entitled ‘Vietnamese Youth – the Story of Peace’ was held jointly by the Central Vietnam Student Association, Tuoi Tre (Youth) Newspaper and Quang Tri Provincial Youth Union at the Truong Son National Martyr’s Cemetery in Vinh Truong commune, Gio Linh district.
The programme aims to pay tribute to wounded soldiers and martyrs who laid down their lives for national independence during the resistance wars in the past.
Through the arts performances, younger generations expressed their love for the country as well as their pride for the nation’s glorious history.
At the programme, the organising board presented 70 gifts to policy beneficiary families, sick and wounded soldiers and outstanding students who are living in difficult circumstances.
In the evening of the same day, the Association for soldiers of Quang Tri ancient citadel held an arts exchange programme to pay tribute to martyrs, sick and wounded soldiers, and former youth volunteers who sacrificed their lives to protect the citadel in 1972.
