On May 23, Idemitsu Kosan Co.,Ltd. and Tamada Vietnam Company Limited organized “Underground SF Double Wall Tank Manufacturing Technology Workshop” at the Tamada Vietnam Factory in Dinh Vu Industrial Zone, Hai Phong to introduce the last steps in the manufacturing process of innovative petroleum storage technologies.

Tamada Industrial Corporation, having more than 65 years, is the leading manufacturer of double-wall tanks in Japan. Their SF tank consists of an inner steel wall and an outer fiber-reinforced plastic (FRP) wall. The FRP layer protects the tank from corrosion. The tank is also equipped with sensor to detect potential leakage. These features will prevent oil leakage, soil, well water contamination, and fire hazards
The “Underground SF Double Wall Tank Manufacturing Technology Workshop” is organized by Tamada Vietnam Company Limited in collaboration with Idemitsu Kosan Co.,Ltd. The last steps in the manufacturing process of innovative petroleum storage technologies, the SF double-wall tank, will be shown by Tamada and Idemitsu at the Workshop which is organized at 10h00 on 23 May 2017 at the Tamada Vietnam Factory. Idemitsu Q8 Petroleum LLC, a joint venture between Idemitsu Kosan Co.,Ltd. and its Kuwait partner, will put into operation its 1st Service Station in Ha Noi this summer. Currently, there are no mandatory regulations of using the double wall tanks in service stations. Most of underground petroleum tanks in service stations in Vietnam are made up of only one layer of steel wrapped in asphalt. The risks of oil leaking, contaminating soil, ground water and causing fire are high. Therefore, Idemitsu has decided to take an extra step and ordered three SF double-wall tanks from Tamada Vietnam for the 1st Service Station. The cost of a SF double-wall tank is higher than a traditional tank. However, Idemitsu is committed to ensuring the safety for its employees and for the environment. Idemitsu is willing to pay a higher initial cost in exchange for a sustainable future.
