NDO—Permanent member of the Party Central Committee (PCC)’s Secretariat Dinh The Huynh has asked the PCC’s Economic Commission to further promote its role as a strategic advisory body in the field of socioeconomics.
Addressing a January 11 conference in Hanoi to review the commission’s performance in 2016 and set out tasks for 2017, Politburo member Huynh spoke highly of the significant achievements the agency has attained over the past twelve months.
As the country is integrating intensively into the world economy with the realisation of commitments in new-generation free trade agreements (FTAs), he urged the commission to build on its achievements and closely follow the working programmes and plans of the PCC, the Politburo and the PCC’s Secretariat to proactively perform its tasks, ensuring timeliness, validity and efficiency.
The body needs to focus on finalising the project “Summarising the 2006-2016 implementation of the Party’s guidelines and policies on rapid and sustainable economic development, the restructuring and the enhancement of the efficiency of the State business sector and the socialisation of public services,” and those to be submitted to the upcoming fifth plenum of the 12th PCC for approval, Huynh said.
He suggested that the commission continue researching and consulting the Politburo and the PCC’s Secretariat on the long-term strategy for national socioeconomic development to create a premise for the building of the draft Document of the 13th National Party Congress, while consulting local Party organisations on the building of socioeconomic development action programmes for each locality.
The agency was also requested to proactively update and forecast the development of the international and regional situations; grasp the multidimensional public opinion and report to the Politburo and the Secretariat on significant socioeconomic issues, thus contributing actively to planning relevant socioeconomic policies and mechanisms in line with the country’s reality and creating socioeconomic development breakthroughs for the country.
Politburo member Huynh instructed the commission to pay attention to training qualified officials; accelerate the patriotic emulation movement associated with effectively and practically facilitating the study and following of President Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, morality and lifestyle; and implement guidelines on exercising thrift and combating wastefulness and corruption, as well as the resolution on Party building and rectification.
