A beauty pageant was launched in HCM City on Tuesday to popularise and promote Viet Nam’s tourism industry.
Miss Tourism Viet Nam 2017 contest seeks beautiful women who have good knowledge of Vietnamese culture and history and are interested in introducing their country and people to the outside world.
The competition is open to young women from across the country. Contestants must be between 18 and 26 years old, at least 160cm tall and unmarried.
Its top three winners will get the opportunity to compete in international contests Miss Tourism World, Miss Eco Universe and Miss Tourism Queen International.
The pageant will also hand out awards such as Miss Talent, Miss Ao Dai, Miss Photo and Miss Beach Bikini.
March 12 will be the final night of the contest, which will be held in HCM City.
Professional model crowned Miss Tourism Vietnam Huy Nguyen Do Tran Khanh Ngan, a 23-year-old professional model from Dong Nai Province, was crowned Miss Tourism Vietnam 2017 on the coronation night at the HCMC Television (HTV) Theatre on Sunday. Ngan won the hearts of judges and viewers for her beauty and communication skills in Vietnamese and English. On Saturday, Miss Tourism Vietnam, Nguyen Thao Huong, journeyed to Indonesia to compete at the 2005 Southeast Asian Beauty Contest held in Jakarta, Indonesia from Mar 5-19. The Vietnam National Tourism Administration in cooperation with the Asian film studio will hold Miss Tourism Vietnam for the first time in 2008 with many valuable prizes for winners. The Vietnam Tourism Administration has decided to postpone the Miss Vietnam Tourism for another two weeks (on July 26) as it is too close to the time of the Miss Universe 2008 event. The organising board said the delay will enable viewers to fully follow the two contests. The postponement also gives extra time for candidates to register and prepare for the event.
