Concert to feature traditional Vietnamese melodies
The HCMC Conservatory of Music will hold a concert featuring traditional and contemporary Vietnamese songs at 8 p.m. on January 8.
The audience can listen to Vietnamese folk songs and new compositions for solo and ensemble performances of traditional Vietnamese musical instruments by the HCMC Conservatory of Music’s traditional music orchestra, one of the largest of its kind in town.
Many compositions written for traditional instruments will be performed by teachers and students of the conservatory, including Meritorious Artist/zither artist Dr. Hai Phuong, and two other zither players, Thu Hien and Thanh Truc, monochord artist Thanh Thao, dan nhi (Vietnamese two-chord fiddle) artist Le Dai Duong, bamboo flutist Tran Thien Lam, vocalists Nguyen Linh Truc Lai and Nguyen Viet Thu, Phu Sa Band, and conductor/Meritorious Artist Tran Thanh Trung.
The HCMC Conservatory of Music’s traditional music orchestra, which was established in 2014, is expected to stage more programs in 2017.
The event will take place at the Concert Hall of the HCMC Conservatory of Music at 112 Nguyen Du Street, District 1, HCMC. Standard and VIP tickets are respectively priced at VND200,000 and VND300,000 per person. Students will enjoy a 50% discount on standard ticket price.
