Thanh Hoa (VNA) – The department for external affairs in the northcentral province of Thanh Hoa on December 20 held a conference to call for internationalnon-governmental funding.
Since 2006,Thanh Hoa received 57 projects from some 40 non-governmental organisations worthabout 7.8 million USD a year, the department reported.
In 2016alone, there were 49 organisations and 66 programmes focusing on rural development- poverty alleviation, health care, environmental protection and disaster risk mitigation.
Threemillion USD worth of non-governmental aid have been provided for sixmountainous districts and between 1 and 3 million USD reached five coastaldistricts.
Charities stillrunning in Thanh Hoa include World Vision with 14-year operation and36-million-USD funding, Anesvad foundation with 5 years of activities and 5.7million USD, as well as Save the Children with 23 years and 4.1 million USD.
Speaking atthe conference, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Le Thi Thincalled on continued support for poverty alleviation efforts in the province.
Nine groupsand 13 individuals from international charities were honoured at the functionfor their outstanding contributions.-VNA
